2017 has been a year of growth in many ways for 3Points, and that has included growing our team to the largest it has ever been — last week, we brought on our newest account director, Fabiola Camacho. A native of south suburban Midlothian, “Fabz” graduated from Stanford University in 2012 [editor’s note: #NERDNATION!] and spent the past five years working in enterprise technology PR in San Francisco.

Since returning home this summer, Fabz has been helping us out on a part-time basis, and has already been a huge help to our team. We’re thrilled to now have her onboard full-time, and we invite you to get to know her a bit more via the Q&A below.

What do you enjoy about working in PR?

PR can be a difficult and challenging job, but that’s why I like it. No two days are ever the same, and you’re constantly being tasked with coming up with creative ways to develop messaging and build buzz — I find that really fun! Also, in tech PR you’re constantly working with companies that are bringing new products and ideas to market, so there’s always something new to learn. #nerdalert

What attracted you to 3Points?

I love the people at 3Points. It’s rare to meet a group of people and genuinely like all of them. I also love the commitment and dedication to each client — we truly are an extension of the companies we work with. I’ve already had the pleasure of sitting in on some really cool interviews, most notably with a former female pit trader at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, who happened to be one of the most successful women on the floor.

Coming from the Bay Area, what are your thoughts on the Chicago tech scene?

I can’t quite fully describe the differences, but (please don’t hate me SF) I feel like it’s a much more down-to-earth and tight-knit community here in Chicago. The people seem friendlier, and I’ve been encouraged by how well-attended every tech event I’ve gone to has been.

After growing up in the suburbs, what are you enjoying about living in the city for the first time?

I’m really enjoying learning the different neighborhoods, the festivals, and visiting all of the amazing rooftop bars. People always told me Chicago is magical in the summer, and I think they’re right!

Also, the food. There is so much good food here!

What do you like to do outside of work?

Outside of work, I’ve been haphazardly keeping up with my knitting hobby and just started to learn to cross stitch as well. I’ve been enjoying being closer to my family and catching up with old friends and making new ones along the way. I’m also training for The Chicago Marathon this fall, which seems to fit in well with 3Points’ philosophy of PR and fitness/wellness.
