This past year and a half has been a year of changes for everyone (but you knew that already!). At 3Points, we’ve been fortunate to experience some welcome changes amidst the more difficult ones. On the services side, we added a new virtual event package, VPaaS, and greatly expanded our branding and design capabilities. On the personnel side, we added a stellar team of interns, two of whom have transitioned to full-time team members.

We are grateful to be able to keep growing, especially given that not all small businesses have been able to do so. …

We have a few soccer fans here at 3Points, and sometimes (like during Italy’s recent victory run at the Euros), you may even find a match on during lunch at the office. Suffice to say, many of us were wrapped up in last year’s first season of Ted Lasso. …

Anyone who has experienced recent business culture has undoubtedly heard the phrase “let’s circle back.” Well, in this blog post, Drew Mauck and Spencer Doar are going to circle forward, discussing the circular economy and its emerging role in the world of ETFs.

If you are a fan of 3Points, you may have noticed that we’ve become very interested in a (seemingly) new economic model: the circular economy. While the circular economy concept as we know it began taking shape in the 1970s, it has only really picked up steam in recent years. And why do we say it has…

For over a year now, adaptation has been the name of the game for everyone. That goes for pretty much all facets of life, but for those of us in relationship-based roles and industries, it has been particularly noticeable in terms of networking.

Opportunities to make connections with industry peers and others in the Chicago tech community became strictly virtual, and we’ve all had to work hard to establish and maintain relationships. (This was one of the main reasons that we launched our VPaaS package.)

Even now, as vaccine rollouts offer hope for a return to safe in-person events, it…

Welcome back to our conversation about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) with Candace Washington of Pivotal Impact. For Part One of this blog, please click here. In Part Two, below, Candace discusses measuring success, changing everyday behaviors, and more. (The conversation has been lightly edited for readability.)

What is the top misconception that organizations have related to equity before you start working with them?

We’ve seen that there’s often confusion around equality and equity. Many people don’t know the difference when they start this journey. Equality means things are the same on all levels for each person. Organizations need to understand that equity in the workplace is about everyone receiving fair treatment; when equity exists, people have…

In recognition of Black History Month last month and Women’s History Month this month, and of the reminders they bring about the work we all can do to make sure that our spaces are inclusive, 3Points’ Katie O’Shea spoke with Candace Washington, the founder and CEO of Pivotal Impact. Pivotal Impact is a talent and organizational development consulting firm that helps emerging leaders build the skills to navigate workplaces and helps organizations build and maintain diverse, equitable, and inclusive cultures. Like 3Points, Pivotal Impact has a particular focus on helping fintech organizations.

We always enjoy hearing about our 3Pointers’ passions and hobbies outside of work — especially when they are able to take the skills they learn and grow in their 3Points role and apply them to outside interests. One great example of that is our design lead, Jeffrey, who has used his design skills — and social media savvy — to build an impressive side gig in the world of pro sports. We asked Jeffrey to share his story below.

Everyone has an origin story.

The more I’ve grown up, the more I’ve learned the unfortunate truth: many people do not…

One of the key challenges of 2020, for 3Points and almost any other business, was how to continue doing the things that have led to success in the past when the present is so different and the future is so uncertain. That certainly goes for our services, which had to be adapted (or created) to be 100% virtual. But it also applies to our internal operations and structures, such as our internship program.

Our interns have played an important part in our growth in recent years, with multiple interns becoming full-time employees, and one even becoming a client. So while…

As we’ve gone through the holidays and into a new year, 3Points has been thinking a great deal about T4Youth, a charitable table tennis tournament our firm has been involved with since its inception in 2014, which up until this past year was held annually in November.

For seven years, the tournament has brought together members of Chicago’s tech community in a round-robin tournament, connecting them with, and raising funds for, aspiring young technologists in low-income circumstances.

Like any charity with large in-person events that drive a substantial portion of fundraising, T4Youth has tried its best to adapt to our…

As a 3Points intern, you truly are immersed into the company culture from the first day you step into the office (or, now, log into the Google Hang). Interns are quickly given meaningful work to dig into that gives value to the company and its clients, and are also given the opportunity to directly interact with CEOs and heads of marketing. We’re very proud of our intern program, and we’ve loved seeing so many past interns grow in their careers after 3Points.

One intern in particular, Nick O’Brien, took what he learned from 3Points and co-founded a startup of his…
